One of the greatest 19th c. non-sport sets, Buchner’s “Police Inspectors & Captains & Chiefs Of The Fire Department” contains 97 (and possibly more) portraits of New York-area civil servants. Even as recently as 15 years ago, this set was not widely collected and I used to purchase them on eBay for about $50 a piece. That changed significantly; the set is now very desirable and prices are often 4x-5x what they were before.
