Below are thumbnails of T204’s with the much scarcer ‘T.T.T. Natural Turkish Cigarettes’ back and a complete checklist. I’m interested in acquiring more of these, so let me know if you have any to trade or sell.
“T.T.T.” was a vanity cigarette brand named for the company president, T.T. Timayenis, a belligerent Greek immigrant to America who, among other things, was prosecuted for pointing a gun at a business partner; issued a tell-all biography about John D. Rockefeller (whose children he had tutored) after he refused to give Timayenis money for a venture; and wrote several plagiarized anti-semitic books in the late 1880’s that earned him death threats. Timayenis later created the “Ramly” brand knowing that consumers would confuse it with the existing “Ramleh” brand; he was sued for this by the S.Anargyros tobacco company, but that party eventually gave up the suit. Timanyenis died a pauper in 1918.
As of May 2020, there are 49 or 50 players who can be found with a T.T.T. back (Gessler is as yet unconfirmed), which leaves 71 or 72 players who can be found only with a Ramly back.
