1909 was the first of three consecutive years of Obak Cigarettes sets. This year had only 76 players, all from the PCL teams in Portland, Oakland, Vernon, Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles; the sets in the following 2 years were roughly twice as big and included players from the Northwest League. The 1909 set is by far the toughest of the three. While the printing process was much better in 1910 and 1911, these cards have their own charm.
