E300 is one of those beautiful one-off sets like T204 Ramly or Plow Boy Cabinets where a producer whimsically decided “let’s get into this baseball card giveaway thing”, then proceeded to put out a set that remains iconic 100+ years later. Plows Candy was a St. Louis operation that, fortunately for the collecting world, was extremely well documented for a Heritage Auctions sale by Gary Simpson. Without his efforts, not much would be known about this the producer or the set.
I’m merely chipping away on this one, trying to acquire examples where and when I can. The Delehanty [sic] shown here is Jim, younger brother of the HOFer Ed and brother to three other major leaguers. It seems to be a tougher one to find that the others I have.
