Armentrout store (New Republic, VA) stamp on the back on an N146.
All collectors who know of Jefferson Burdick admire him for his 30-year card cataloguing project. Some sets must’ve given him more trouble than others. This one he labeled as “N146” may be a single set, or maybe it’s several sets lumped together; we still can’t decide. The N146 card captions may cite “Duke of Durham” or “Duke Mixture”, the sizes vary, and no one is quite certain how many cards make up the set (it’s probably around 200). The cards are blank backed.
I’ve focused mostly on acquiring cards of politicians, but there are also actors and actresses, clergy, poets, and a policeman or two, which makes this a lot like the Duke N151 set. The subjects labelled as “M.C.” (member of Congress) are what we now more commonly refer to as Representatives. There’s a more complete gallery of N146’s available.
